The Willows Nest is a casual place to experience art, grow as an artist or just listen.  From intimate house concerts and talks to workshops and (sonic) meditation sessions, the Nest is a place build your artistic practice or just get in touch with your inner life.  Located in the heart of Friedrichshain just a block from the Ostkreuz station, and featuring certified Deep Listening™ teachers, professional improvisers from around the globe, guest artists and other exciting visitors, the Nest offers world-class artistic exchanges in a relaxed and informal setting.

Hosted by Improvised Alchemy founder, professional composer-performer and Deep Listening™ Certificate holder, Renée T. Coulombe, PhD, the Willows Nest is her home studio and teaching space – with recording and playback facilities available to students and guest artists alike.  Whether you come for a single concert or a stay for a whole series of workshops –  you are a member of our community.  With a mission to sustain collaboration across borders, genres and disciplines, we’re not just trying to help artists and audiences at the Willows Nest, we want to make our neighborhood, our city, our environment and our world a better place.  Fostering collaboration over competition, we seek to make the experience of great art a personal one, accessible to everyone wanting to be engaged.  The space is light-filled from morning until night – on the top floor with a terrace so you are sure to catch some rays as a bonus.

Because all events at the Willows Nest are in the host’s residence, we expect everyone who attends to respect this place as you would your own home.  A small community, we are responsible to one another – this is a safe environment for everyone.  Everyone participates at the discretion of the host.

See our Events page in the main menu (top right) for a complete list of regularly scheduled classes, events and workshops.  Browse the Artists page to learn about the folks who will be leading or presenting.  We have discount packages for anyone wishing to attend workshops weekly – and we’ll even throw in a free house concert so it isn’t all work and no play.  Contact us via email to discuss subscription options.
